Last updated on

We spent over 14 hours analyzing 21 different shower panels from 16 manufacturers that are currently available on the market. We chose the Blue Ocean SPA392M as the best shower panel for most consumers and a great choice to add some luxury in the bathroom.

We also like the Pulse 1013-GL Kihei II which isn’t the most affordable shower panel we have reviewed, but it features four water outputs, six water jets, and has a body made of stylish anodized aluminum.

Shower panels features

Shower panels (also called a shower towers) are panels that consist of several water outputs designed to provide a soothing spa-like shower experience.

They can be mounted directly on the wall and most of them use standard plumbing connection which means they are as easy to install as most other types of shower systems.

Temperature control features

The best shower panels feature advanced water temperature control features to prevent scald. There’s usually a temperature control valve that helps adjusting the water temperature based on Celsius or Fahrenheit degrees. Controlling the water temperature is usually done with buttons located in the middle of the shower panel. Some of them also feature LCD display which makes adjusting the water temperature much easier.

LED lights

Many shower panels are equipped with LED lights. Some of them require batteries, but some utilize the energy of water pressure to provide the needed energy for LED lights. No one actually needs LED lights in the bathroom, but they can provide quite a pleasant experience. Sometimes temperature control features are in-built in LED lights which means that each individual color of LED lights represents a certain level of heat. If the water is too hot, LED lights will usually turn red and if the water is very cold, the LED lights will turn blue automatically.

Water outputs

A shower panel usually comprises of up to six different water outputs that can work individually, or together at once (depends on the shower panel itself).

Rainfall shower
A rainfall shower is a fixed shower designed to provide a soothing rainfall effect which mimics the experience of standing in the rain. It’s usually the largest shower head on the entire panel and it’s mounted on the top of it. Most rainfall showers offer several different spray patterns to choose from.
Waterfall shower is rarer than rainfall shower. It’s located near the rainfall shower at the top and usually has a single function, to pour the water down similar as waterfall. Although the waterfall shower isn’t nowhere near as frequent on shower panels as other types of water outputs, it’s sometimes there.
A handheld shower head is the most common type of shower head in the world. It’s attached to a flexible a hose which provides provides enough flexibility and freedom to shower specific areas of the body. It often offers several different spray patterns which can be switched through the press on a switch button located on the handle.
Body sprays / jets
Body sprays (body jets) are usually spread out through the middle of a shower panel. Their job is to provide gentle massage experience to the middle section of a body. Most of them are adjustable, so you can point them in any direction to cover desired areas of the body.
Tub spout
A tub spout is located on the top of a shower panel and can be very useful when you just want to wash your feet or clean the bathroom. Some shower panels feature a bidet sprayer instead of a tub spout. Bidet sprayer is mounted on an additional flexible hose which provides even more options to work with.

Best pick overall

Blue Ocean SPA392M

  • Aluminum alloy
  • Modern temperature display
  • Durable
  • Easy to install
  • 8 adjustable body nozzles
  • Temperature display requires a battery (not included)
  • Spray functions can’t be used simultaneously
  • Dimensions: 54″H x 13″W x 7”D
  • Water outputs: rainfall showerhead, handheld showerhead, tub spout, 8 adjustable body nozzles
  • Minimum required water pressure: 28 psi
  • Flat wall installation (all standard installation accessories included in the package)

Picking the best shower head is never easy because much of it comes down to design and not all people have the same taste. Even if you like the design of a certain shower panel, it might not suit well with the design of your bathroom and remodeling the entire bathroom just for the shower panel to look great in it isn’t very rational to say the least.

That being said, we picked the Blue Ocean SPA392M as the best rated shower panel on our website based on its design, price, usability, huge list of features, and overall value for the money. It’s made of aluminum aloy stainless steel with satin finish and tempered glass which makes it look elegant and contemporary.

The Blue Ocean shower panel offers four different water outputs.

  • Overhead rainfall shower
  • Muti-functional handheld shower with several spray functions
  • A tub spout
  • 8 adjustable nozzles for relaxing body massage

Digital temperature display

The digital temperature display is mounted above the top two body nozzles. We believe that the display makes the whole appearance of the Blue Ocean very modern and fits nicely with its overall design. It can display the water temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The downside is that it requires batteries to operate unlike some other shower panels that generate the needed power from water pressure. The batteries aren’t included in the package, so you want to use the display, you will have to buy them as an addition.

There are two controllers under the display which are used to control the water temperature of each water output. The water is maintained at the exact temperature using a thermostatic valve and it limits the maximum water temperature to 102 degrees Fahrenheit by default to prevent scald.

Other specs

The dimensions of this shower panel are 54” H*13” W*7” D which makes it is appropriate for most bathrooms. Gross weight is 32lbs which means it’s one of the most lightweight shower panels we have reviewed so far.

Best modern design shower panel

  • Attractive and unique design
  • Hydro power LED mood light
  • LED switch control
  • In-built shower shelf (can be used as a towel bar)
  • Easy to install
  • No digital display
  • Dimensions: 8.7 x 53 x 19.7 inches<
  • Water outputs: rainfall showerhead, handheld showerhead, tub spout, 8 adjustable body nozzles
  • Minimum required water pressure: 28 psi
  • Flat wall installation (all standard installation accessories included in the package)
  • Standard 1/2″ plumbing connection

The Ello&Allo PS-S3 is a medium-priced shower with a very modern look and LED mood lights. In fact, we believe that it’s the best looking shower panel we reviewed so far, but as being said, that’s just a matter of personal preference. It’s made of high quality SUS304 stainless steel and finished with brushed stainless steel.

There are five different water outputs.

  • Top-mount rainfall shower head
  • Waterfall
  • Four horizontal massage sprays
  • Hand shower with a flexible hose
  • Bidet sprayer with another flexible hose

As you can see, there’s no tub spout because it’s replaced with a bidet sprayer and a flexible hose.

LED lights

The LED lights are powered by water pressure, so there’s no need of replacing batteries. Unfortunately there are only a few LED lights located at the top of the panel which is less than you get with most panels with lights, but still more than enough to enjoy a romantic bath.

There’s a large shelf above the top two body jets. It’s large enough to hold several shower gels, or even a towel which makes it very handy when you want to save some space. Most shower panel manufacturers probably agree that incorporating a shelf is never easy because it can quickly spoil the design of the whole shower panel and most of them don’t even bother implement it for the exact same reason. However, we believe that the shelf on the Ello & Allo looks quite good and fits nicely with its overall design.

The downside of the Ello&Allo is that it doesn’t have a digital display, but do you actually need one?

This panel requires standard 1/2″ plumbing connection, so it should be easy to install. It measures 8.7 x 53 x 19.7 inches, but the manufacturer warns there may be 0.39″-1.18″ deviations because it was measured manually. There’s a 1-year warranty provided by the manufacturer.

Decor Star 004-SS

  • Stainless steel frame
  • Independent valve control
  • Easy to install
  • Medium price range
  • Horizontal spray isn’t adjustable
  • UPC and cUPC certified
  • Water outputs: rainfall showerhead, handheld showerhead, horizontal spray, 8 adjustable body nozzles
  • US Based Customer Service
  • 2-year warranty

The Decor Star 004-SS is a medium-priced shower panel that measured 64 inches in height. It features stainless steel frame which looks more minimalistic than most shower panels we have reviewed so far. Judging by numerous consumer reviews it received in various online stores, it’s safe to say that it’s also one of the more popular shower panels on the market.

The Decor Star 004-SS has 4 different water outputs just like most shower panels.

The top-mount rainfall and waterfall shower, a handheld shower with 59-inch flexible hose, and a horizontal spray. The horizontal spray consists of 100 massage nozzles while the top-mount shower head consists of 50 nozzles. Unfortunately the horizontal spray isn’t adjustable, but it’s designed to cover all important body parts of the body.

Independent valve control

The independent valve control allows each shower function turned on at the same time. While this is a very handy feature, many homeowners can’t use more than two features at once due to the lack of water pressure. The Decor Star manufacturer offers 2-years of warranty and US based customer service which comes handy if you run into any difficulties or malfunction.

  • Stylish 304 stainless steel design with brushed nickel / mirror black finish
  • Temperature display
  • Led lights
  • Five functions
  • Plastic hand shower feels cheap
  • Dimensions: 18.3 x 8.3 x 59.1 inches

The ELLO&ALLO PS12-S2 is another medium-priced shower panel that comes with several attractive features. It’s made of high quality 304 stainless steel which makes it resistant to corrosion, durable, and makes it look luxurious and expensive. There are two finishes to choose from; the mirror black version is more suitable for bathrooms with black fixtures while the brushed nickel finish looks better in traditional bathrooms with chrome fixtures. Though, that’s just a personal preference.

The PS12-S2 has 5 water functions.

There’s a small tub spout at the bottom, a hand shower with several spray functions at the side of the panel, and 4 adjustable water jets for soothing water massage at the middle of the panel. The rainfall and waterfall outputs are located at the top.

The temperature display is located above the top two water jets. It allows you to select the best water temperature according to your personal preference and keeps it at 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit by default. The multi-outlet switches are located at the middle of the panel and make it easy to control 6 individual and 9 combination water effects.

LED lights

The rainfall shower is equipped with 10 LED lights. Unfortunately they are powered by a pack of batteries which isn’t included in the package, so you will have to buy them as an addition. The LED lights also don’t change colors although that’s just a minor issue in our opinion.

Pulse 1013-GL Kihei II

  • Stylish anodized aluminum design
  • In-built mirror and glass shelf
  • Anodized aluminum frame with chrome fixtures
  • Four water outputs
  • 6 two-function body jets
  • High price
  • Dimensions: 11 x 18 x 53.5 inches

The Pulse 1013-GL Kihei II is a stylish shower panel made of anodized aluminum. All fixtures have chrome finish and the panel is covered with white tempered tough glass which makes it look modern, elegant, and expensive.

It features four different water outputs – a rainfall shower, a hand shower, a tub spout, and 6 body jets.

The top-mount rainfall shower is mounted on an adjustable brass shower arm. The multi-functional hand shower has five different functions ranging from full massage to light mist. It is attached to double-interlocking stainless steel hose that stretches from 59 to 78 inches. There are 6 dual-function body jets that can provide either a soothing mist or massaging spray function. All 6 body jets can be used at once, or you can turn off up to 4 of them and use just the top two. Finally, there’s the tub spout that works just like a regular faucet for when you don’t need a spray pattern.

There’s a mirror on the top top side of the panel just above the glass shelf. The shelf is large enough to hold several body lotions in place an the mirror is covering almost the entire upper area of the panel. Such a large mirror usually spoils the design of the entire panel, but it fits the Kihlei II design perfectly.

The downside of the Kihlei II is the price. It costs about twice as much as some of the shower panels that made it to our top 10 list, but it still costs much less than the most expensive and luxurious panels.

Unfortunately the Kihei II is also one of the most expensive shower panels on this list. However, it does have some advantages compared to most other shower panels we reviewed.

Cheap shower panels

AKDY AK-787392M

  • Aluminum frame with tempered glass
  • Modern temperature display
  • Sleek design
  • Easy to install
  • 8 adjustable body nozzles
  • Temperature display requires batteries
  • Size: 52 x 9.5 x 3 inch
  • Water outputs: rainfall showerhead, handheld showerhead, tub spout, 8 adjustable body sprays
  • Minimum required water pressure: 29 psi
  • 1-year warranty on parts

The AKDY AK-787392M is an attractive shower panel made of aluminum and tempered glass. It’s has an ultra sleek mirrored finish and was designed to provide a soothing relaxation experience under the shower. Most shower panels manufactured by AKDY are quite affordable despite the fact that they use high quality materials. For comparison, the AK-787392M cost less than half the price compared to panels such as Pulse 1013-GL Kihei II.

There are four water outputs. The top-mount rainfall shower consists of 100 spray nozzles and is there to provide the same experience as standing under the rain. The hand shower features several different spray nozzles that provide four different spray options (high efficiency, mist, massaging jet, and stream). There are 8 powerful body sprays for soothing massage in the middle, and a tub spout at the bottom. All water outputs work independently to ensure proper water pressure.

The LED display is powered by two AAA batteries and is mounted above the top two jets and shows the water temperature in Fahrenheit degrees. Keep in mind that batteries aren’t included in the package, so you will have to buy them as an addition.

Rozin R7072807

  • Stainless steel frame
  • Five water outputs
  • LED lights are powered by water flow
  • Easy to install
  • Low price range
  • Horizontal sprays aren’t adjustable
  • Water outputs: rainfall showerhead, handheld showerhead, 6 adjustable body sprays, waterfall, tub spout
  • LED display

Rozin is not as popular as most other shower panel manufacturers we reviewed, but they have several shower panels in the lowest price range on the market right now, and we believe that their popularity will increase drastically in the next few years.

The R7072807 is very unique shower panel in most aspects. It has a durable stainless steel frame and features five water functions. There are a rainfall shower and waterfall function at the top, The LED lights are placed in the middle of rainfall shower sprays and they don’t need batteries to operate because they get the power from the water flow. The hand shower is mounted on the side and is attached on a flexible 59″ hose. 6 body sprays are aligned vertically and and adjustable in every direction. The faucet is located at the bottom and is made of brass.

There are three things we don’t like about the R7072807. The design, body sprays, and the LED display. The design is a matter of personal preference, so our opinion can be easily disregarded. The body sprays are placed in a vertical line and don’t have as much spray nozzles as most similar shower panels, so it might be challenging to find the perfect spots for every user. The LED display looks great, but it’s mounted too high an too close to the top of the panel.

That being said, the Rozin R7072807 is one of the cheapest shower panel we have reviewed.

DreamLine SHCM-25780

  • Stainless steel frame
  • Satin finish
  • Multi functional hand shower
  • Easy to install
  • Retro design
  • Only 3 water outputs
  • Dimensions: 19.5 x 8.6 x 55.5 inches
  • Weight: 19 pounds
  • Water outputs: rainfall showerhead, handheld showerhead, massage jets
  • 1-year manufacturer’s limited warranty

It seems that most manufacturers design shower panels to look as modern as possible. The DreamLine SHCM-25780 is one of the rare shower panels that feature unique and retro design. Its frame is made of anodized aluminum and covered with satin finish which makes it quite pleasant to look at and makes it look modern despite retro design.

There are three different water outputs. The top-mount rain shower is adjustable which comes handy when you want to find the perfect spot. 6 body jets are placed through the entire panel from bottom to top and are also adjustable. The hand shower is multi functional and features 6 different spray patterns. It’s placed a long flexible hose at the bottom of the panel.

The SHCM-25780 doesn’t bring the most advanced features to the table. There’s no LED lights, no display and no tub spout at the bottom. However, it does have unique design that fits nicely in bathrooms with specific design.

Vantory VS061

  • Stainless steel frame
  • Chrome finish
  • Four-stage hand shower
  • Easy to install
  • Clean design
  • Rainfall shower is not adjustable
  • Dimensions: 59.1 x 7.9 x 7.9 inches
  • Weight: 19.2 pounds
  • Water outputs: rainfall showerhead, waterfall, handheld shower, massage jets
  • 3 Year Manufacturer Warranty

The Vantory VS061 is another shower panel with modern features and design. It’s quite tall compared to most other shower panels which has its benefits, but also a few downsides.

The rainfall shower is fixed and unfortunately only has a single spray function. There are 5 massage jets feature five spray nozzles. All massage jets are hidden in the frame itself which makes the whole panel look clean and modern, but unfortunately eliminates adjustability of the jets. The hand shower is quite small and feels great in hand, but unfortunately only offers a single spray pattern.

The downside of the Vantory VS061 is the rainfall shower. Unfortunately it isn’t adjustable and only consists of 36 rainfall nozzles although that’s a very minor issue for most consumers. Another downside is that you can’t use several features at once.

It’s worth mentioning that the VS061 is one of very rare shower panels that come with 3-year manufacturer warranty which is more than you get with most other shower panels on the market right now.

How to install a shower panel? The water pressure in my house is low, can I still have a shower panel? Can I replace the handheld showerhead on a shower panel with my own one?
Most shower panels come with installation manual. It depends on the type of shower panel, but you need to remove the existing shower head, connect the shower panel to the old tile and install mount brackets to secure it in place.

If you are not sure how to install it, we recommend hiring a contractor because you never know what can go wrong.

In most cases the answer is yes. The problem with shower panels is that they have three, four, or even five different water outputs and if you have a low water pressure, there’s a chance you won’t be able to use more than one of them at once.
Yes, but in some cases you will need a hose adapter.

How to buy a shower panel

Before you pick the best shower panel for your bathroom, there are a couple of things you should take into consideration first.

A shower panel can cost anywhere from as low as $100 to over $1000, but the majority of shower panels we have reviewed cost somewhere around $300. Yes, they are expensive, but when compared to the costs of buying a handheld shower, a rainfall shower, body sprays, and a tub spout separately one by one, the cost of a shower panel suddenly starts looking much more reasonable. Especially considering the fact that installing a shower panel that already has several different in-built outputs that can be connected to a single plumbing connection is much easier and often doesn’t hiring a contractor.

While it seems that cheap shower panels share the same features as the more expensive ones, the biggest difference is in the design. Cheaper shower panels tend to look and feel cheaper because they are made of lower quality materials such as ABS plastic while more expensive ones provide more luxurious look because they are made of stainless steel or tempered glass.

Water pressure
An average shower panels has four different water outputs in a single package. When using just a single water output of a shower panel, there’s usually not much water pressure required. But if you have low water pressure in your home, you might have problems when using several water outputs at once. Most manufacturers will tell you what’s the minimum required water pressure for using a certain shower panel, so you should always be sure that you have enough water pressure before buying a shower panel.
The most quality shower panels are made of durable and non corrosive materials such as tempered glass and stainless steel. Because both stainless steel and tempered glass are relatively expensive, manufacturers often use cheaper materials such as ABS plastic to compete with other manufacturers in the lowest price range. While ABS plastic can look great and shiny like a Hollywood star on professional photos, it usually looks cheap and fragile from close range.
Most shower panels use standard plumbing connection which makes them very easy to install. However, you should always make sure that the shower panel fits in your bathroom and you have enough water pressure to enjoy all shower panel features to the full extent. Most manufacturers will tell you exactly what’s the lowest water pressure needed for their shower panels to work perfectly as they should.

Shower panels come in many shapes and sizes and they can make a big difference in showering experience. They are much more versatile than most other types of shower systems and can easily transform an ordinary shower into a luxurious spa full of options for relaxation. It seems that more and more consumers are deciding to install a shower panel instead of traditional shower heads and we believe that the trend will continue for at least a decade.

  1. I bought the Blue Ocean 52″ a few days ago and installation was a piece of cake. The only thing that bothers me is that the surface feels like it could scratch very easily although I guess I’ll have to wait and see. It looks beautiful.

  2. Hello!

Looking for a system that has a strong water pressure. My husband is not a big fan of “rain showers” so he wants to know if there is a system designed for individuals that wish for a high water pressure shower.

    Thank you
